Summertime Fundraising Ideas
The summer months are a great time to fundraise! The great weather means plenty of opportunities to have fun in the sun whilst raising money for your chosen charity or cause. Whether you decide to host a party on the beach or run a charity car wash in your local town, the summertime offers plenty of outdoor fundraising opportunities.
Below are some great fundraising ideas you can do this summer:
Charity Car Wash - The summertime is the perfect opportunity to set up a charity car wash in your local area. This simple fundraiser is a great way to raise lots of money for your cause. The first step is promotion – make posters that not only advertise the car wash but raise awareness of your cause. When deciding on a price you need to consider your overheads. Generally speaking you will need to washing detergent, sponges, waxes and cloths. You may also want to charge more for larger vehicles. It may also be worth approaching local car businesses to see if they will lend or give you car cleaning products in return for free advertisement at the car wash.
Sports Day – Host an action packed summer sports day. Set up a variety of different races and events from welly throwing to sack racing. This could either be hosted at school or for the local community. There are numerous ways you can raise money at a sports day. Firstly, you can charge ‘athletes’ a small fee to enter the events with the winner receiving a prize. You could also sell food and drinks to make even more money!
Football Tournament- Organise a five a side football tournament at your workplace or school. Each team pays a small fee to enter with the winning team receiving a prize. You could also charge admission for the spectators and sell food and drink at the event. You could even design a trophy for the winners and make this fundraising football tournament an annual event.
Sponsored Bike/Run/Swim –The summertime offers the perfect opportunity to host a sponsored sporting event. Encourage participants to gain sponsorship from friends and family – this could either be a flat rate donation or they could pledge a certain amount based on the distance they cover. Ensure you allow participates plenty of time to raise sponsorship before the event and remember to follow up with collecting the cash. You could even approach local businesses to see if they will pledge money to the cause, or even see if they will match sponsorship. For example, for every £10 of sponsorship the company will donate £1.00.
