Valentines, a day of courtship, romance and fundraising! The 14th of February is the perfect time to collect for your chosen charity or cause. With the exchange of gifts, cards and flowers, there is plenty of potential for fundraisers to muscle in on the action and make lots of money for their chosen cause.
Below are some great valentines fundraising ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
Sell Red Roses – Speak with local florists to see if they will donate roses to the cause. You can then sell them at your workplace, school or even door-to-door. It is also a good idea to go round to restaurants or bars as this is a good place to find couples who are having a romantic evening out.
Valentines Cards – Arty? Crafty? Then why not make and sell homemade Valentines cards. You could even personalise each card if you take orders before the big day. You could either ask for a donation or sell the cards at a set price – just remember to cover your overheads such as the cost of making the card and delivering them to customers.
Valentines Ball – Organise a romantic valentine’s ball for your work or school colleagues. This fundraiser will require some upfront costs such as venue hire but like all charity events it is worth asking around to see if anyone is willing to offer their services free-of-charge. You could also sell tickets in advance of the event to help pay for costs. There are also opportunities make even more money for your charity at the event. For example, you could have a raffle or sell food and drink.
Valentines Auction – Why not organise a charity valentine’s auction? The prizes on offer should be appropriate to the day, such as tickets to the cinema, restaurant gift certificates and romantic weekend getaways. Speak to local businesses to see if they are willing to donate products or services for the auction in return for free publicity at the event. There are numerous ways you can host an auction; you could host it as an event in a local hall, conduct a silent auction or even host it online using auction websites.
Cake Sale – Bake some heart shaped cakes and cookies and sell them at your workplace or school.
Valentines Message Service – This is a simple and easy way to raise money for your chosen charity or cause. Organise a messaging service at your school or workplace – people simply pay £1 for you to deliver a card or message anonymously to their chosen colleague. You could even make extra money by selling cards and gifts to go with the messages.
